The Mash Tun is my favorite whisky bar in Tokyo. When I make it to Tokyo about twice a year, I always try to reserve a night to go and visit Toru Suzuki, the owner, in his little Bar that seats no more than a dozen people and is located close to the Meguro train station (address: 〒141-0021 Tokyo, Shinagawa City, Kamiosaki, 2 Chome−14−3 三笠ビル2F).
As usual Toru had some good suggestions. I started off with an 11 year old Gordon McPhail Caol Isla from the cask strength collection which started off ok but opened up very nicely after some water and a couple of minutes time. It was followed ba a 28 year old Laphroaig from the bar’s own bottling which they do regularly together with a bar in Hong Kong named Club Qing which is on my list for visits when I get to the Hong Kong area next time.
If you as a whisky connoisseur want to have a great night out in Tokyo this is the best place to go.
